Nikkis Journey Begins

I want to talk about what INSPIRES ME. This question can be taken in so many ways I guess. Like what exactly am I inspired to do? Well… I have lived in Los Angeles for 8 years this coming March. In those 8 years I have some amazing stats lined up from my career. I am a celebrity makeup, hair, and wardrobe stylist. I also have started to do Publicist work for a couple icons. We will get into each of these topics in further, everyday. For today I want to pick one thing to speak on. Lets speak on my number 1 inspiration… THE CULTURE. And its what and how I see culture. Cause lets be real we each have our own we are vibin on within the grander scheme. When I say culture, for me, its the world of hip-hop, pop, fashion, and the lifestyle. I am so in love with this world that it defines my everyday life now. My career is to style the music videos that our top artists of our time are making.

The VISION is given. I am emailed a treatment in which lays out the look and vibe for the job I am about to partake in. I study these images, I then listen to the music. If you do not understand the song, where the artist is coming from, the beat, the life that is the music… then you cannot create the art to become alive. I am so passionate about the music and the words that the artist has made. This is the driving force. For me, making these visions come to life is the main driving force in my life. That is my one true love. I love music so much. From the time I was a young kid, all I did was want to style clothes, I would draw them in notebooks. Then I would sit and watch music videos, and I told my Mom, “Im gonna make these one day.” and on this day, I can tell you, I make those. And this is the day. Everyday is the day. The day to wake up and be apart of the one thing in the world that you really want to be apart of. What drives you? What makes you excited? Do you have something you love so much, that you would do anything to be apart of it? That is what inspires me.
